First Attempt Saturday December 15

Last Friday, the lake looked so promising. Perhaps Slushie Season would be short this year! A test hole was dug...Wow, just maybe...tomorrow...

Saturday, the very next day...things changed...In a fit of optimism, the Yamaha (See below-not to be confused with a piano of the same name...) was dusted off, primed and situated in a GO position. Even with -minus temperatures overnight and a few centimetres of snow, it doesn't look good. Slush underneath the snow!

Our straight line destination...The Kelly's...

With "peddle to the metal" Frank is giving it the 'old college try'.

The Slush!

Mission Aborted - At about half way the sled dipsy-doodled and dug in. A Hurculean effort was required to get unstuck and make this track back home. Home - to assess the damage to man and to "beast..."

Beastie damage! A drive belt, a mirror and perhaps a few injuries that aren't obvious yet...

Yes, Dan Kelly did what we could not...Cross the lake in one piece. Darn! And he did it with mail and a lampshade on his head. His idea, not mine!

Today, Thursday December 20th, things have not changed. Slushier if possible. Rain and Drizzle forecast for Saturday and Sunday and on Monday, the temperature may reach a +5. Travelling over the Holidays will take some thinking and doing...
