The First Day of a New Year

The Year has started off on the right foot! The "tree" came down and the decorations are put away for another year. The sun came up and gave us some solar hours before the clouds moved in. Phone calls made and received far and wide! And a welcomed surprise...these Pine Grosbeaks swooped in to pick up some seeds...Pictured below, 5 males. The female chimed in last and they all flew away...perhaps she wears the important "feathers" in their flock.

Oh yes, before I go...a sad note. George's chair met its demise in the fire pit this morning...For those of you who have actually seen this chair will no doubt agree, that the time had longed passed for putting this chair out of its misery. It joins its matching sofa, (still grieved over, by Swami,) in its transition to smoke and blackened springs, forever a memory...
