We've Been Cooking...

...In the Kitchen, of course!
Yesterday morning, the weather promised fog and rain so a perfect day to cook a big meal without heating up the house. Naturally, as my luck (or lack there of) would have it, the weather cleared and the humidity climbed. "Too Late To Turn Back Now" so...whew! It got hot... in the Kitchen...
There has been quite a bit of cooking and baking lately...
Yesterday's Spaghetti and Meatballs

Frank tried out a "new" bread recipe from one of my cookbooks - Tradtional Recipes of Atlantic Canada - White Bread and Toutons (Newfoundland)

Toutons!!! Yummmmy!

While we visited the Bishop family in Kitchener earlier this month, Michelle baked these most delicious oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She warned me! Decadent calorie content. I asked for the recipe anyway...(Don't let the Oatmeal fool you!)

Finished Product. Mmmmm...

The Brown Family came to visit GPF and one of the fun things to do here is assist GPF in making bread (or buns). This time it is Miss Calliope Brown's turn. GPF had been invited to bring his famous Buns to a Trailor Park Pot Luck... And I add that each and every bun was devoured.
(Ellia and Kaeden Bishop prepared scrumptious Raison Bread (if you like Raisons) when they were here.)

There has been a price paid for all the good eating this summer...I'm putting the cookbooks away...and going back to basics. Gruel and slop in small portions...Sigh...
